Dry Eye Symptoms
Dry eye can be difficult to diagnose, because there are so many possible causes and contributors. Also, not everyone experiences or describes dry eye symptoms in the same way. Nevertheless, it is very important to treat dry eye and not let it go ignored.
Are you regularly experiencing any of the following dry eye symptoms?
- Eye dryness
- Eye irritation
- Scratchy eyes
- Burning or stinging eyes
- Feels like something is in your eye (foreign body sensation)
- Gritty eyes
- Fluctuating or blurry vision
- Tired eyes
- General eye discomfort
- An impulse to blink more often
- Eyes are sensitive to light (photophobia)
- Excessive tearing – you might not associate having too many tears with dry eye, but it can be a symptom. If your eye's surface (cornea) is not holding tears because it has been damaged, your tear-producing glands may be triggered to produce more tears to flush the eye.
If you experience one or more of the dry eye symptoms above, you may have dry eye. It is important that you talk to your eye doctor about options for treating dry eye symptoms.
